BACK IN ACTION AGAIN
From PTW in Madrid and quicky on to Zhõngguó, or more present China for vacation.
Visiting Beijing and Xian in China was an eyeopener to a totally different part of the world, which I have never been to. Flying into and from the largest terminal building in the world, in Beijing Daxing International Airport, was amazing. (see picture).
Being in a group with 30 lovely “strangers” from all over my own Country Denmark, was interesting. There was a lot of talk in the group and one of the more obvious questions popped up: "and what are you doing for a living"?
I always smile a bit when I answer this question. Smile because no matter how many years I have been in the industry, it´s still a lot of fun, hard work and good experience every day.
“Well, I work with airports in general and almost all the time at the arrival area. The area you walk through and never pays attention to unless you pick up your luggage from the belt or something’s goes wrong”.
It is the place at the airport that never makes money. Always “red figures”, but never the less, an area that is extremely vital to all stakeholders: Airport, Airline, Handler, , ,
It is the first reel impression the travelers get to your Town/Country, after all the nice shopping areas and it can be either good or bad:
SCENARIO 1:
· Is it nice and “clean” looking?
· Does it seem as if everything is everything well taken care of?
· Are there kiosks around which easily can take care of your claim of your missing luggage if needed be?
· Maybe even better, are there signs telling you what to do in case of missing luggage and a QR-code you can scan and report at your convenience later?
SCENARIO 2:
· Is it “dirty” and shaggy looking?
· Are there lots of wagons floating around piled up with luggage?
· Are there luggage on the floor, or even piled up against the walls?
· Are the belts overfloating with luggage from previous flights, not handled yet?
· Is it clear for customers, where to report luggage missing if nessesary or are there all kind of different signs for Companies, handling each a range of airlines and is it difficult to figure out where to go and who to ask and you must choose amongst an endless row of different counters?
When you look at the above “statements” and afterwards look at “your own” airport, which of the above scenario do you see?
Scenario 1 is nice and good. Interest from all involved parties in the area has clearly been taken and for sure the working environment is good. Customers happy, with the service provided and all stakeholders satisfied.
Scenario 2 is where I so much would like to be involved in the process to provide your airport with a new and Clean Arrival, with great benefit for all involved
I´m back in action again, with meetings in UK, Germany, and Italy within the next period, but still a lot of time to share my thoughts with you
